Some Ghanaian mining news just get your blood boiling

Jia Xin Company Ltd mining in rural Ghana ignores multiple stop work orders and continues to pollute the Aboabo River, which serves as the main source of drinking water for the people of Akyem Akokoaso and its environs, for other domestic chores, as well as for small-scale palm oil production, leaving residents to now resort to using sachet water for their various chores. Management of the firm is said to have introduced the use of poisonous chemicals and also built a channel from the river to the mining site through which waste substances continue to be released back into the river.
What leaves me wondering is, where on this earth will this happen, if not in Ghana? If citizens, politically connected ones at that, can watch entire rivers get destroyed without batting an eye, what else won't they watch happen?
To Jia Xin Company Management, time to pack up and leave. Whatever arrangements you have with corrupt officials that give you this level of impunity, that arrangement ends this month. #COP26 #Waterislife #EnoughIsEnough
