You may be asking "I have signed this petition. Now what?"
I am glad to share that we have incorporated the Galamsey Action Group, a group of individuals like you and me who are frightened for the future of Ghana given the level of destruction and devastation we are witnessing. Our Group is taking action. While we are encouraged by the recent actions of the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, we also know that this has happened before and failed miserably. It takes an engaged, determined citizenry to ensure that politicians follow through from words to action and impact.
Galamsey and Irresponsible mining have many people with vested interests. The few well connected financiers benefiting immensely from these activities won't stop that easily, and the youth who thinks this is their only means for survival won't give up that easily. That is why we have embarked on Community Sensitization, Media advocacy, petitioning and extolling our Chiefs and traditional leaders, monitoring of ongoing activities by Political leaders, searching for viable alternative livelihoods among others to ensure that we all succeed in saving our country.
