Today, March 18, Hon Rashid Pelpuo, MP,  Wa Central, read a statement  in Ghana's Parliament on the devastating effects of #Galamsey and irresponsible miming on rivers, waterbodies and virgin forests in the Western and other regions in Ghana. He reiterated our call for mining in and around waterbodies and rivers to be halted with immediate effect. My MP, Hon Armah Kofi Buah, Elembenle and two more MPs supported the statement, calling for a united front and the commitment of all to solve the problem.

The sector Minister, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, gave an encouraging response on what government and his ministry plan to do differently to resolve the problem. While we are encouraged, we cannot rest on our oars. History tells us that intention and actual action on the Ghanaian political scene hardly align. Our work continues.
