Demand Beach Access: Open Seacoast parking along Rte.1A and side streets to at least 50%
The Issue
The complete parking ban on Rte.1A along the entire NH Seacoast is preventing NH residents from accessing the beach and ocean. Small towns like Rye have also closed all side streets for parking to anyone except Rye permit holders. There are also no non paid parking spots, which is excluding low income people and families. As a result, miles of beaches and coastline are inaccessible despite being “open”.
If half the parking along Route 1A and the side streets open up, there would still be plenty of space on the beaches for people to enjoy while practicing social distancing.
We call Gov. Sununu to Open Rte.1A and side streets on the Seacoast to at least 50% capacity.
