Dear neighbors, THANK YOU! We want to report that thanks to the residents who have been submitting complaints over the past 18 months as well as submitted letters requesting the inclusion of our area in the study, White Rock Quarries North has been selected to be evaluated by RESPEC! We also have to thank the City of Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam for his leadership, our city Commissioners and Broward County Commissioners for their support. We asked for representation and we have it. We demanded advocacy, and they have been constantly reaching out to other elected officials at the local, state and federal level to try to unite forces in favor of the affected residents. We just became aware that on December 21, 2017, two elected officials who we could not reach on our own asked for solutions, adding their voices to the thousands of people who are saying Enough is Enough. Members of Congress Alcee L. Hastings and Frederica S. Wilson sent a letter to CFO Jimmy Patronis asking him to ensure that our area was included in the study and that the study examines the full range of impacts from blasting operations. To see the full text of the letter please visit our facebook page or our twitter page. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomoreblasting/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/nomoreblasting We have also learned that there will, in fact, be independent monitoring of the blasts during this study! This was a significant source of concern for all of us. On February 12, 2018, RESPEC will begin to install seismographs throughout the affected neighborhoods. While the study is completed, we ask you to continue filing your complaints via email to nomoreblastingrivieraisles@yahoo.com so we can forward them to the State Fire Marshal, to document your damages with pictures and videos, and to keep sharing our information with other neighbors who are being affected. Complaints are especially important now that there will be an independent third party examining blasting data AND complaint data. We also encourage you to reach out to RESPEC and give them your side of the story. They need to keep hearing from us (http://www.respec.com/). As always, thank you for believing in this group of volunteers. We are stronger together! Riviera Isles Blasting Committee
