Dear neighbors, We are proud to inform you that our efforts in bringing awareness to elected officials and local government bodies are starting to pay off. On February 15, the City of Miramar Commission approved the creation of a Blasting Citizen Advisory Board whose 9 members were elected on March 8th. This board will work with the city Commissioners and the Mayor to propose solutions and strategies, as well as represent the affected residents at county and state levels until a solution is found. During March 15 and 16, a commission of the Miramar City Government went to Tallahassee to speak with different legislators regarding the proposed bills that were introduced at the beginning of the month by State Representative Manny Diaz Jr., and State Senator Rene Garcia. It is very important to understand that the miners are also lobbying against us. They were in Tallahassee at the same time, speaking with legislators and trying to kill the legislation aimed at lowering blasting levels. We need your help!
