Childcare reform. Stricter Standards. More Inspections. Mandatory Video Cameras in Licensed Childcare Establishments.

The Issue

With the recent death a 5 year old Indiana boy (Amareon Williams) that was left unsurpervised at a licensed daycare and subsequently died of asphxiation due to hanging from a rope....I think it's time Indiana (and beyond) take a serious look at their licensing requirement and standards.  The State has been too lax for too long in making sure that these establishments are safe.  More follow-up needs to be done for the safety of our children.  Inspections once a year or once every two years is not enough.

Functioning video recording systems should be mandatory at any facility licensed by the State to assist in protecting our children and so that the State can access these systems randomly to ensure proper regulations are being adhered to.

Below is a link regarding the death of Amareon Williams, at an Indiana daycare that have received numerous complaints/violations yet was still permitted to operate.

Madatory cameras in licensed facilities will not only allow the State to access these daycares remotely and more often but parents can have access as well.  An inspection once a year is hardly enough...what happens to the standards in these places once they have their annual visit from the state knowing it will be at least a year before they have to see them again?

Our children are being neglected in daycares all over the state that are licensed and funded by the State of Indiana...it's time for a change.

Please sign my Petiton and share it with your friends and anyone you may know with a child in daycare and/or compassion for our chiildren.   Not just for Amareon, but for your own children and grandchildren.  They deserve better conditions and better care.
