There has been a DA lodged to hold an event that includes a rodeo. The event is called 'Bikes and Bulls' and we strongly object to the rodeo component of this event because it is cruel to the animals involved.  Electric prods, spurs, and bucking straps are used to irritate and enrage animals used in rodeos. The flank (or “bucking”) strap is tightly cinched around the animals' abdomens, causing them to buck vigorously in an attempt to escape the pain. Due to cruelty, traditional rodeo events are banned in Britain and in parts of Europe and the United States and should be banned in Australia. 
The DA number is 2016/1699. Please email objections to records@wollongong.nsw.gov.au and request that Wollongong Council adopt a policy that doesn't allow rodeos in our area.
