Google to shut down Youtube to mp3 converter
Google to shut down Youtube to mp3 converter
The Issue
For several months now, a man named Phillip has been running a site that has converted more than a million Youtube videos into mp3 audio files. He provided this service to the public at no charge. He went above and beyond to make his site, as he put it in his plea for justice, "...[Not] profit-oriented, but user-oriented." (His letter can be found here: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/help-us).
Over 200 MILLION people have used his amazing site to download their favorite songs and videos. Google, and its lawyer Harris Cohen, have demanded that he stop. People can watch television for free online, and listen to the radio. So, I ask, what gives Google the right to keep the public from downloading their favorite videos? To me, and to many others, this is progress. Not crime. Keep a deserving and kind man from having to face unfair laws, and help keep this useful service open to the public for years to come.
