Google+ Rethink your Banning Practices - "The BanHammer"
The Issue
Using these examples of Members of Google+ who added immense value to the experience of Google+, we want Google to re-think its censorship and banning practices.
Moan Lisa offered Akademie™ where every day anyone that wanted to participate would be offered an Art assignment. All work that wanted to be posted was. Which meant, of course, there were all sorts of pictures posted. ---- Art-----
Maria Morisot offered poems and Artwork. Sparked discussions and added amazing and sometimes uncomfortable images. Art is not just there to be pretty……
The same person also offered a page called "Pocket Poems". A place where anyone could post poems. So many, many people wrote and posted amazing work. People became creative and shared. This is the essence of Google+ !!!
The pages were incredibly alive and involved the interest of many people. And now they are banned. Censored.
To quote form a long article that asks if censoring art can be justified ( http://www.thegeminigeek.com/is-censoring-art-justified/ ) :
Art doesn’t always have to be the way we like it, so censoring it only to suit our tastes is unethical and violation of human rights. An artist has the freedom to express what he/she feels and nobody, for whatever reason, has the right to censor his work. History is full of examples when great ideas are mocked at by the society as dangerous when they first appear but then everyone gets to like them and this is how a society develops. Censoring art would only mean stopping the development of a society.
Google- give us back our Moan Lisa, our Maria Morisot and Pages! I am sure there are many names that could be added here that have been unjustly banned- because they made “someone” uncomfortable. Add them in the signitures to this petition!!!!
Google- Rethink your censorship. Work with us- we WANT to work with you!!!
