For centuries, the body of water south of Iran has been known as the Persian Gulf—a name recognized by the United Nations, UNESCO, and all major historical and geographical institutions.

Google Maps has recently used the misleading term “Arabian Gulf” alongside the correct name. This is not only a distortion of history, but also an insult to millions of Iranians and international scholars who rely on factual and accurate terminology.

We demand that Google stop using the politically-motivated and incorrect term “Arabian Gulf” and respect the official name recognized globally: Persian Gulf.

History is not negotiable. Maps must reflect facts, not politics.
