Provide prompt support to advertisers through the Google Merchant Center.

The Issue

Advertisers now have to pay for all clicks on their product listing ads on Google Shopping, requiring significant effort and technical changes on the advertiser end to comply with Google's policies.

Many advertisers are experiencing difficulties with the new process and their online businesses are suffering from significant drops in revenue. Advertisers are reaching out for help and guidance from Google Merchant Center (googlebase-support@google.com), but are having to wait days for canned answers with links to Google help files that are not even relevant to their concern. Canned email replies are signed "The Google Shopping Team". At least with Google AdWords, help tickets are usually addressed within 24 hours from a specific Googler and the ability to reply to that individual for ongoing support.

Google is raking in the money through the now paid product listing ads. The least they can do is to provide commensurate support. Google lectured advertisers for much of 2012 about how to "be ready" for the changeover to paid listing ads, yet they did nothing to "be ready" to support advertisers deal with the change. It's a real disgrace, with many advertisers still struggling to cope.
