“Nonviolence is an active force of the highest order. It is soul force or the power of the God-head within us. … I have an implicit faith – a faith that today burns brighter than ever – after half a century’s experience of unbroken practice of nonviolence – that mankind can only be saved through nonviolence.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Dear Signatories,

So many conferences, seminars, webinars, symposiums, essay writing competitions, etc. have been organized all over the world on Gandhian philosophy, paying tribute to the Mahatma in the past 2 years! (The Indian Govt. observed GANDHI – 150 Years from 2 Oct 2018 to 2 Oct, 2020)

However, let’s not forget, Gandhi was a karmayogi – a man of action. So we take this opportunity to request you to promote Gandhi’s legacy of Nonviolent Conflict Resolution through our Initiative and the Petition #s.

With your support, our petition #ChooseNonviolentDefence has reached 1,333 signatures. Let’s work together to spread awareness about Nonviolent Defence, as a concrete alternative to the War System, by reaching 50,000 signatories, to present to the UN in 75th Anniversary Year!

Prof. Dorothy Rai, from Lucknow University, India, captures the essence of our Initiative in her following poem. We share some excerpts:

                                        Shanti Sahyog

The heart-burn of Hiroshima to commemorate

The advent of peace to initiate

Universal brotherhood to celebrate

Atomic martyrs to venerate

Comes Shanti Sahyog!

For your signature making a plea,

By candle light that statemen may see

The futility of having torpedoes for tea

With fragrant roses, on bended knee

Comes Shanti Sahyog!

If in Ahimsa (Nonviolence) you do trust

If you want the loaf, not the crust

If you wish to create a world order just

You'll unanimously agree that it is a must

To join Shanti Sahyog!

Hoping for your continued support!
