Stop COPPA from affecting YouTube

This petition had 36,130 supporters

As a Creator who creates content that is generally based towards all audiences, I believe it is ridiculous how the FTC has enforced COPPA upon YouTube for “Collecting Data on Minors”. It will kill thousands of Youtube Channels and may end the platform as a whole. Basically what COPPA does is removes comments, removes notifications, turns off personalised ads and much more. However even worse is if you mistakenly put your video as made for everyone, the FTC will go after your video/channel and possibly fine you. If we don’t stop this, the FTC could potentially kill YouTube as a platform. Google and the FTC need to realise that a such thing as “YouTube Kids” exists. Also, YouTube’s rules clearly state that you have to be 13 years old to make a YouTube account. Also, they could easily lie about our content similar to how Google does with their Monetisation feature. I hope this goes out to Google and especially the FTC.
