On February 5, 2022, content creator Exulansic was  de-platformed by YouTube through the removal of her rapidly growing gender critical channel under the same name, Exulansic. Exulansic’s channel was abruptly terminated without any prior strikes, warnings, or explanation—on the basis that her content violated YouTube’s policies, without any reference to what exactly was the offending material.

We, the undersigned, feel that the termination of Exulansic’s channel is unjust and misguided. As someone who has struggled with gender dysphoria, the recipient of a degree in gender studies, and a licensed healthcare provider, Exulansic brings a compassionate, rational, informed, and crucial perspective to the current discourse around gender identity and its far-reaching social and legal implications. Her content strongly opposes hate speech and violence—especially toward the people who are most vulnerable to it: women, disabled individuals, and the gay, bisexual and lesbian community. As supported by undersigned, her content provided valuable medical insight that has directly benefited gender-dysphoric individuals make more informed decisions about their health.

Historically, YouTube has sought to maintain a neutral stance in relation to controversial political issues. At a time when unpopular political opinions are so often mischaracterized as hate speech, we need content creators like Exulansic, who can elucidate marginalized viewpoints clearly, rationally, and without resorting to abusive language. By caving into this one-sided notion that any criticism of gender identities (no matter how logical or science-based) is hateful, YouTube tilts the scale toward censorship, damaging its reputation as a platform where people can freely share ideas and opening the door for the rise of emerging, competitive social platforms that rightly oppose censorship.

We feel that the termination of Exulansic’schannel does a huge disservice to the vulnerable individuals and groups mentioned above and to YouTube’s future viability as a platform. Therefore, we respectfully request that Exulansic’s channel be promptly reinstated.
