Reinstate DK Vine's participation in the YouTube Partner Program for Monetization
The Issue
The site, which can be found at www.dkvine.com, was created over 20 years ago by Hyle Russell and Chad McCanna to provide the vast and vibrant fan community of Rare Ltd.'s games, past and present, a place to call home, make friends and talk about silly talking animals. It wasn't until relatively recently that Hyle himself decided to take on the role of maintaining the site as his full time career, which no doubt is both admirable and potentially unstable. Unfortunately not long after this, co-founder and Donkey Kong enthusiast Hyle Russell announced that the DK Vine YouTube channel was demonetized, leaving the beloved fan site to rely solely on income from Patreon to keep Chuffy's engine running.
Based on the information that I as an outsider am aware of, there shouldn't be any reason that the DK Vine YouTube channel should be demonetized. Hyle has stated that the reason seems to be due to some confusion about the ownership of the videos that they post on the DK Vine Channel, but it seems pretty clear that all content on the channel is owned by DK Vine. Here's a link to the YouTube Monetization Policies.
I have no direct connection with the site with the exception of being a devoted fan of what the community puts out each week as well as occasionally posting here and there about Banjo-Kazooie, but I have immense fondness for what this website represents and equally immense respect for what the staff at DK Vine do to support and entertain their community of like-minded weirdos.
Let's help our good friends at DK Vine out!
