On February 23rd, 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine.

I woke up from an explosion when a bomb hit the ground near my house in Kyiv city around 5 a.m. The explosions, shelling, and the terror go on, as Russian "strikes on Kyiv with cruise or ballistic missiles continued".

The war became a terrifying reality for 45 million Ukrainians, when Russia’s president Vladimir Putin has announced and began an unprovoked and unjustified “military operation” in Ukraine.

As the war continues, there are hundreds of military and civilian casualties (including children), irreversible damage to millions of people’s lives, tens of thousands of people are spending days and nights in bomb shelters afraid for their lives.

Hundreds of thousands of women and children crossed the border of Ukraine seeking asylum in democratic countries, while millions are scared for their lives, abandoning homes in this atrocious turn of events.

This is not easy to wrap your head around, but this is the reality of today.

Putin threatens Ukraine’s international allies with “consequences you have never seen”, while his military personnel is killing Ukrainians (both military and civilians)

He justified this atrocious act in a televised address, asserting the attack was needed to protect civilians in eastern Ukraine — a false claim the U.S. had predicted he would make as a pretext for an invasion.

Propaganda has become one of Putin's strongest weapons over the years, which helps him to control all the information that Russians get, and terrorize millions of innocent people.

Propaganda takes many forms and shapes: from the complete dominance in the narrative through Putin’s full control of state-run media, imposing strict limitations on the few opposition’s media outlets (that are now labeled as “foreign agents” by the Russian government and are terrified to speak up facing prison sentences).

In recent years YouTube has become yet another platform for fueling Russian pro-war propaganda among Russian citizens and abroad.

Some of the many examples include Russian state-owned channels, whose sole purpose is to cater to the interests of Putin’s regime.

We, the people, demand that Google LLC and its subsidiaries take a stance on this situation and ban misinformation channels and websites, as well as create an internal investigation to help fight Russian pro-war propaganda on YouTube and in Google Search Results, including, but not limited to:

1. Baning the following YouTube channels for pro-war propaganda, misinformation, hate speech, and supporting terrorism:

Pro-War Proparaganda channels on YouTube.com:

Pro-war bloggers sponsored by Russia:

2. Remove the Russian state-owned or sponsored websites for pro-war propaganda, misinformation from Google Search results and Google News feed for hate speech and supporting terrorism, including, but not limited to: 

3. Create a department within Google LLC to monitor and prevent Russian misinformation on the platform and prevent using Google services as a platform that helps justify unjustifiable bloodshed and violence in Ukraine.

Google employees, shareholders, anyone who wants to stop the senseless violence, humanitarian crisis! This is our time to act! Spread the word and help save lives!
