Google include Malta in YouTube Partner Program
As the YouTube Partner Program stands today, Google knowingly or unknowingly is in fact discriminating against content creators from countries that are outside its partner programme. Focusing on Europe; Malta, Bulgaria and Cyprus are the only three EU member states that are left out from such a program.
Contrary to those that live in 97 countries within the YouTube Partner Program, in our case Maltese “YouTubers” i.e. content creators that create and upload videos on their YouTube Channel cannot monetise their channels and get paid for the number of viewers their videos get. There are YouTubers within the partner program that make a living just through their YouTube Channels.
Despite the monetisation block, Google still persist in its course and inundates Maltese users with advertising (even local advertising) all throughout its services.
Quality content creation involves time consumption, equipment in the likes of cameras, audio and lighting equipment together with editing suites, high end pcs, software licenses, and also involves traveling costs, etc. Besides, such a block discourages motivation to learn and do better.
Help us level the scale with the internet giant, sign and promote this petition and be part of the change that is tarnishing all sorts of discrimination.
