I am the creator of a giant chat at Walnut Hills High School. Google chat has helped many kids and students I know. It is a place to talk. A place to connect with others. And a place to get help when one may need it. 
It was never warned that it may be removed and then suddenly it’s gone. This was a big shock for me since i use it daily and it is the only way for me to talk to some over the summer. 
This is a outrageous attempt at control. The CPS admins have never blocked many sites that do distract kids such as cool math and other sites. They have even removed our ability to get extensions on google chrome. But to block a google site that lets kids connect and have fun is to far. No matter if it is “distracting kids”. It is still a way for people to talk and hang out. I know many kids that do not have phone numbers or other means of connecting so this is the only way they can talk. I even know students that are very socially challenged and google chat is the only way they can have friendships.
All in all this outrageous  act will not be able to be fixed without YOUR help. Please sign this to show that we are not alone and kids  can make change
