Suspend the fund-raiser authored by Dusty Albritton. "Help with Medical Expenses for Bart". http://www.gofundme.com/kqy6cg

The Issue

January 23, 2015 a fund-raiser was started on your site.  The site indicated that they wished to raise funds to cover Bart's, (the cat) medical expenses.  The site originally stated that they believed Bart was injured gravely, after being hit by a car.  However, Bart was presumed dead and actually buried alive only to reappear in traumatic shape on 1/21/15.  A video that is posted under the "updates" section shows that Bart was haphazardly being treated at home for his injuries. He finally was taken to a veterinary clinic on 1/23/15.  This is what was originally stated on the site and has been confirmed by the Tampa Bay Humane Society.  Dusty Albritton, originator of this GoFundMe account, has since changed the dates.  Bart sadly sustained a broken jaw and severe dehydration. He was given a blood transfusion due to anemia and is still on a feeding tube.  There is no doubt Bart is in need of a lot of medical care.  Knowing what this cat had been through is the reason so many people have been willing to give to this cause.

I am asking you to suspend this site, due to all the uncertainties and contradicting statements that have been made involving this campaign.  At first it was very basic, help pay for Bart's medical bills! We now know that the Humane Society in Tampa Bay has covered the bills and this has been confirmed by Dusty Albritton.  Based off of information from the updates on the fund-raiser there is a legal dispute in regard to Bart's welfare that may end up in the courts.  This means he may not be returned to the previous owner (Mr. Hutson).  Since Bart’s bills have been paid people started asking, "Where was the money going".  Dusty Albritton then asked for suggestions in regards where the money should go.  An overwhelming amount of people wanted the money to go to the Humane Society that was treating Bart, even if it meant other animals would benefit.  This obviously has not happened.  Refunds have now been requested and given to those that are aware of the suspicious and ever-changing events surrounding this fund-raiser.  Most individuals are not aware of the controversy; they trust their money has been going toward Bart’s medical care just as Dusty stated.  One update that was given on the page states that your company, GoFundMe and WePay stopped any withdrawals from being made from the account, but donations were still being accepted.  Two days later after that post, she noted once again that she is withdrawing $3000.00 for Bart and Mr. Hutson.  She fails to mention that she has started another GoFundMe fund-raiser, Feb.6, 2015 titled, "Help bring Bart the Miracle Cat Home".   http://www.gofundme.co/lr5sqs ;; On that page she says, Mr. Huston needs $3000.00 to retain a lawyer.  Its hard to believe this is a coincidence and only cast more shadows upon the legitimacy of what the collected funds are being used for.

To date, the GOFundMe page for Bart the cat has raised $6,704.00. That money was given under the impression it was going to the cats medical expenses, nothing more!  Majority believe your site to be a trust worthy site.  When people donate to campaigns, they do so out of the kindness of their hearts. Individuals do not always go back and check the updates to see if there is discrepancy in where the funds may be going.  People are not expecting to read under the facebook comment section, that a certain fund-raiser is possibly a scam.  In this case, she has removed the comment section, which directed individuals to information they should be made aware of, especially since it contradicts what she has been claiming. If you ask the public to give you money, you should not be allowed to block information others may find that legitimately proves you are misleading them.  Bart's medical expenses have been covered.  The Humane Society in Tampa Bay has made it clear that they are taking Bart's owner to court in the hopes of finding him a new home.  So no one knows what the out come of that case will be. Mr. Huston has been quoted saying, "He just wants his cat back. I don't want a nail or penny from nobody.  In the same article from WSVN-TV 7 News in Miami Ft. Lauderdale FL, Albritton is quoted saying, "It will (the money) go to Mr. Hutson, and he can do whatever he wants to do with it".  Honestly it’s hard to believe at this point if any of the money will be used for Bart.

I want Bart to recover from his injuries and live a happy long life.  He should have lots of scratching posts and a fluffy bed to lounge in. Unfortunately due to all the information that has come to light I don't believe the money in this account will be used for Bart’s medical care now or in the future.  It is for that reason I am asking you to suspend this account and no longer allow Dusty Albritton to collect donations.  The money that is currently in the account should be given to the Humane Society in Tampa Bay. That is where Bart was originally taken to receive treatment and he is still there being treated.

Please help in assuring that all the monies that were donated to Bart's medical expenses are turned over to the Humane Society in Tampa Bay.  We do not want to see Bart's unfortunate tragedy become a travesty.  The funds that were collected should be used for Bart's medical expenses and continued care as was originally stated, or at the very least used to cover the treatment of other animals who are in need of medical attention at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

Update to this petition: Dusty Albritton has deleted the fund-raiser to raise money for legal expenses to bring Bart home, http://www.gofundme.co/lr5sqs. She managed to raise no money for that campaign.

On February 13, 2015 changes were made to the original fund-raiser http://www.gofundme.com/kqy6cg that began Jan. 23, 2015.   This fund-raiser was initially started for the sole purpose of assisting with Bart’s medical expenses and individuals donated thousands of dollars for this purpose. The change she made was that this money is now going to be used for legal expenses along with Bart’s medical care.  These changes were made only after the GoFundMe campaign to raise money to cover legal expenses failed miserably, as in no money was raised for this purpose!  She should not be allowed to use that money for legal expenses when it was raised under the belief that it was going to Bart’s medical treatment.
