A cinco meses de haberse iniciado la tala ilegal de árboles en el predio del Vivero Santa Cruz, un área verde de más de 4.5 hectáreas ubicada en el cruce de Calzada Zavaleta y Boulevard Forjadores, las autoridades de los ayuntamientos de Cuauhtlancingo y Puebla no han dado respuesta contundente para frentar este ecocidio y la tala de baja intensidad continúa, dañando especies endémicas de la zona y la calidad del aire de la zona poniente de la Ciudad de Puebla.

A inicios de septiembre y haciendo uso de permisos falsos y tráfico de influencias, el propietario del predio conocido como Vivero Santa Cruz inició la tala de más de 100 árboles de diferentes especies con la intención de fraccionar el terreno para construir viviendas. Ante ello vecinos de 10 colonias aledañas se inconformaron y acudieron a instancias municipales, estatales y federales con más de 77 mil firmas de apoyo para pedir que se detuviera la tala y se castigara el delito.

Luego de más de 30 reuniones en diferentes instancias de gobierno, incluyendo el Congreso del Estado, la tala continúa a pesar de los sellos de clausura colocados por parte del Ayuntamiento de Puebla, los cuales han sido violados en varios ocasiones.

Ciudadanos solicitaron información a los Ayuntamientos de Puebla y Cuauhtlancingo acerca de las acciones legales y administrativas que se tomarían para castigar a quienes falsificaron los permisos para el derribo de árboles y a los particulares que cometieron el delito, pero no hubo respuesta alguna.

Por ello, vecinos de las 10 colonias aledañas con el apoyo de organizaciones como la Fundación Mexicana del Árbol y organismos internacionales como Greenpeace, entre otras, hacen un enérgico llamada a detener la tala y salvar a las especies que habitan en el Vivero Santa Cruz, así como a castigar la corrupción que permite que cada vez haya menos áreas verdes en la Ciudad de Puebla.

Stop Massive Logging at Santa Cruz Garden!

Five months after the illegal logging of trees in Santa Cruz Garden, a green area of ​​more than 4.5 hectares located at the intersection of Calzada Zavaleta and Boulevard Forjadores, the authorities of the municipalities of Cuauhtlancingo and Puebla have not given a strong response to prevent this ecocide and low intensity felling continues, damaging endemic species of the area and the air quality of the western area of ​​the city of Puebla.

At the beginning of September and making use of false permits and influence peddling, the owner of the property known as Vivero Santa Cruz started the logging of more than 100 trees of different species with the intention of dividing the land to build houses. In response, neighbors from 10 neighboring neighborhoods disagreed and resorted to municipal, state and federal agencies with more than 77,000 signatures of support to request that logging be stopped and the crime punished. 

After more than 30 meetings in different instances of government, including the State Congress, the logging continues despite the closing stamps placed by the City of Puebla, which have been violated on several occasions.

Citizens requested information from the City Councils of Puebla and Cuauhtlancingo about the legal and administrative actions that would be taken to punish those who falsified the permits for felling trees and the individuals who committed the crime, but there was no response. 

For all this, neighbors of the 10 surrounding neighborhoods with the support of organizations such as the Mexican Tree Foundation and international organizations such as Greenpeace, among others, make an energetic call to stop the felling and save the species that live in the Santa Cruz Garden, as well as to punish the corruption that allows that every time there are less green areas in the City of Puebla.
