GOA UNIVERSITY SHOULD CANCEL SEMESTER END EXAMS IN VIEW OF THE ONGOING PANDEMIC

With regards to the decision taken by Goa University, I make this petition on behalf of all the students of Goa to hereby cancel the Semester End Examinations (SEE) of First Year & Second Year Students of colleges under the Goa University.

Here are the reasons to consider the above:

Incomplete syllabus- Various topics & Chapters are highly theoretical whereas some require class interaction to understand. Lack of resources such as reference books are unavailable due to the inability to access libraries.

Mental health of students that is being put under pressure to study with lack of reference material which can get unstable

Transport-
Majority of the students rely on public transportation to get to their respective Institutions. Public transportation if resumed can also be a hotspot for the spread of the virus.

Online classes-
Due to poor internet service facilities in India it is not possible for students to attend online lectures. All students might not be able to afford an internet plan to do so and some may not have the adequate requirements.

Rushed examinations deprive the students of proper understanding of the syllabus, and let it be emphasized that it is mentally and physically straining for students in such times.

Most importantly holding exams pose a RISK TO EVERYONE'S HEALTH and might cancel out all the efforts taken by the government and people to stay safe during the lockdown.

ALONG WITH EVERYONE THAT SIGNED THIS PETITION I URGE THE RESPECTIVE AUTHORITIES TO KINDLY CONSIDER THE INCONVENIENCE THAT EXAMS WILL CAUSE THE STUDENTS AND PLEASE CANCEL THE SEMESTER END EXAMINATIONS.
