I would like New Forest District Council to let me stay in my home. With this stable constant in my life I can pull myself together and look to a better future with a job and a roof over my head.

I was born in Hythe Hospital, Hampshire in April 1963 and left there after five days to go to my Council House home in Laburnum Crescent on Netley View to live with my parents. I never really met anyone special or earned enough money to buy a place of my own. In 1992 my Father died and my Mother became the householder. In January this year she was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. Before she went to hospital she asked me to go to the Council to see about getting my name listed as co-householder. I was told this couldn't happen and upon my Mothers passing I would be expected to vacate the property within weeks with no immediate possibility of re-housing. My Mother passed away, at home as she wished, on February 28th 2014. The Council have consistantly refused to compromise on their position which has contributed to the distress I have been through this year and had a notable effect on my physical and mental health.
The Council have sent me a form to terminate the tenancy. Should I sign this I will be signing my home and belongings away and be homeless in 28 days, around the beginning of May.
I have lived in the house my entire life, to me it is not a Council asset, it is my home. I appreciate that there is a housing shortage and in the long term I would have to vacate the property as I would be under occupying a (two) bedroom house, although I am considering approaching Nightstop New Forest homeless charity so that I could create something good out of the situation. At the very least I want to live there till I can get over my Mothers passing and get myself stable again. My Doctor has written a letter to support this as he feels it would be detrimental to my wellbeing, as a vulnerable person, to remove me from the property.
Please sign my petition now and help me keep my home.
