Preserve the Second Amendment in Gloucester, Virginia by becoming a 2A Sanctuary

Preserve the Second Amendment in Gloucester, Virginia by becoming a 2A Sanctuary
The Issue
We are requesting that the government of Gloucester County, VA and the Board of Supervisors declare itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary to protect the rights of its residents.
A Second Amendment Sanctuary refers to resolutions adopted by some jurisdictions in the United States to not expend resources to enforce certain gun control measures perceived as violative of the Second Amendment.
This petition is in response to Gov. Ralph Northam's promise to reintroduce gun-control bills when the new General Assembly convenes in 2020. In an interview with Gov. Northam on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019, the question was posed if there were plans to confiscate guns from law-abiding citizens. Northam's response was “that’s something I’m working [on] with our secretary of public safety,” adding that he will work with anti-gun activists on the issue.
Many counties in the United States have declared themselves Second Amendment Sanctuaries including Carrol County, VA. In April 2019, Carroll County supervisors adopted a resolution bemoaning “a slippery slope of restrictions on ... Second Amendment rights” in both Virginia and the United States. The resolution declared the county a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”
