Fairfield University is currently one of the only schools with an abroad program that is unable to travel outside of the country. The country of Italy has just declared they are no longer in a state of emergency, and travel in and out of the country is now permitted. Multiple other schools abroad in Florence have lifted their travel bans due to this as well, as covid is no longer a concern for the country. Despite this, students traveling abroad with Fairfield University are not permitted to leave their host country because of superfluous covid concerns. However, during classes Fairfield students sit in classrooms between students who have been traveling all throughout Europe. Additionally, in order to travel abroad, all students attending Fairfield University had to receive 3 doses of a covid vaccine while on campus, Fairfield University has allowed non-vaccinated students to attend and now go to classes maskless. Students travel abroad to get the experience of a lifetime and learn about cultures in an immersive way not possible in an American classroom. At the college age, we abroad students are mature enough to make our own decisions and travel smart and safely. Fairfield abroad students would like the trust to travel safely and proudly say they got to experience this through Fairfield.
