Global Boycott of Israel at the Baku COP29 

The 29th World Summit on Climate Change, known as Baku COP29, is about to be held. A country that has various strategic cooperation with Israel in the political, economic, military, and security fields has not only assisted this reprehensible regime in various ways, including fueling its war machine for genocide in Gaza, but has also supported it in the media and various forums of parliament and government. This clearly mocks the deaths of thousands of innocent people and magnifies and widely reflects Israel's threats against countries that support Palestine.

On the other hand, the Zionist regime views such an event as a significant opportunity to whitewash its crimes, rebuild relations, and gain global consensus in its favor. It plans to enter a country with a large delegation of businessmen and political, economic, and security lobbyists. The regime considers itself not a guest but a host, and it goes without saying to what extent the facilities of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be at the disposal of the head of the Zionist regime and the accompanying delegation during this summit.

Now, the awakened consciences of the world are asking how it is that when France and Spain—two independent Western countries—do not allow Israel to participate in various international events and exhibitions, including those showcasing military capabilities, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the World Environment Summit become an arena for restoring this regime’s image. Has the narrative changed?

Although it is unspoken what ugly and immoral aspects will arise from this meeting and how it will offend the consciences of the world, it is crucial for the diplomatic apparatus of governments aligned with the oppressed people of Gaza to neutralize this global Zionist conspiracy in the remaining time. By addressing the ugly undercurrents of this situation, they should accelerate the process of raising awareness among nations and governments.

Holding such a summit in a country that, according to international institutions, has one of the worst environmental records in the world—from the unaccountable burial of nuclear waste by some atomic countries in exchange for bribes to polluting the Caspian Sea with substandard oil extraction, deforestation in the areas home to indigenous Talesh people for the benefit of non-Turkish-speaking groups, and dozens of other small and large issues—demonstrates the choice of this republic. The officials of the Zionist regime have referred to it as their second homeland many times, revealing numerous behind-the-scenes motives and indicating a significant trap for normalizing crime in the world while lobbying for consensus in favor of criminals.

Given the crimes of the Zionist regime and Azerbaijan's alignment with these crimes amid the sensitive regional and international situation surrounding the COP29, we urge all awakened consciences around the world and governments aligned with the oppressed people of Gaza to strike at Zionist interests. Make it a priority to neutralize this global sedition and support an international boycott of the presence and speech of Israeli president Isaac Herzog at the COP29.
