Glenview Park District Board Meeting | November 16, 2022 6pm | Park Center 2400 Chestnut Glenview IL

A general heads up, the Glenview Park District Board will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, November 16 at 6pm at the Park Center (2400 Chestnut Street, Glenview).  The Board will be receiving a report from the staff about expanding the great sport of Pickleball at Flick Park with new courts.  This will be the first of several meetings at the Park District and then the Village of Glenview (Development Committee and Board of Trustees).

If you support adding courts to Flick Park, as I do, please consider attending the meeting.  If you are willing to speak, please send me an email at mjkorman@icloud.com; we should be organized in speaking.  I have been on both sides of the dais for meeting such as this.  In the coming few days we will develop six broad topics with a Glenview resident representative for each topic.  Being organized, thoughtful and speaking with grace and respect will accrue great benefit to our cause.  I happen to believe that the Board and the Staff are generally very supportive of adding courts to Flick BUT there are nearby residents that are gathering signatures in opposition.  We need to counter that narrative with a strong in person presence on the 16th of November.

I noted above, and the fact is, Glenview Park District residents will carry more weight with the Board than non-residents.  Of course, our Flick Community is greatly enhanced by our non-resident friends.  My thought is that we will have a single speaker that can represent the non-resident Flick Picklers and showing how we, together, make Flick Pickle the strong culture that we know it is.  Finally, speakers will be limited by policy to 3 minutes of speaking.  If we have 6-7 focused speakers with a strong and supportive crowd behind them we will be MOST effective in our case.
