Glendale Water and Power (GWP) is proposing to rebuild and expand its fossil fuel burning gas power plant at the site of the old Grayson facility near San Fernando Rd. and Flower St. This power plant is walking distance to four GUSD schools (Franklin, Keppel, Toll and Hoover) and will drastically increase greenhouse gas emissions and local air pollutants for decades to come. Glendale residents are already breathing air that's too dirty to meet federal standards. There are clean, zero-emissions energy options available and ready to go that other agencies, including LADWP, are seriously exploring. Glendale should not be spending $500 million on an outdated model of fossil fuel power generation that we do not want or need. The Jewel City can do better!
