A Wind Chill Advisory has been released by the National Weather Service that states that there will be "strong winds [which] will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow which would make travel very hazardous."

Many students drive to school and in these conditions, travel is hazardous.

Wind chill values can and will reach as low as 20 to 25 degrees below zero which can lead to frostbite in a matter of minutes and an increased risk of hypothermia. Under these conditions many students that walk to school either from the parking lot, home, or Pioneer Press along with those student who wait for the bus every morning are forced to endanger their well beings. 

The last two days of school were cancelled due to wind chill advisories and we, the student body, requests for the districts consistent consideration of the students' health. Deerfield, Maine West, Maine South, and Maine East have already closed. Enough support on this petition and it will be sent to the district office please continue to show your support!
