Started a couple of days ago through being horrified at the closure of a local Boots Pharmacy in Glastonbury, we've already passed 500 signed local and international supporters for this petition. Let's try that little bit harder and get to 1000 and then approach the CEO of Boots, owned by Wallgreens an American company who bought Boots - who may not understand what it means to a community if a local resource is pulled away from the community. Naturally when they're advised that their cost cutting may lead to much heavier losses if local people across the UK refuse to support the very company that caused their services to be cut, that they then might not wish to give their custom to the business that did this - and also, for American friends many of whom come to Glastonbury, this cannot be good PR for a US company who is prepared to do this sort of thing in other countries. At the very time that the UK Tory Government is causing doctors to outsource diagnostic services to local pharmacies - where the issue becomes that you who have paid for the National Health Service are now being asked to pay for all prescriptions - by stealth, because if you can't see a doctor you can't get a prescription then the political alignment of Companies with Government policy may flash back in both Government and Company faces. So let's double down and share this petition to drive numbers of citizens to sign and support their local community. This is after all about the Heart of the community in the United Kingdom of which Glastonbury is the greatest Symbol.
