Make Festival Camping Culture Sustainable

Make Festival Camping Culture Sustainable
The Issue
I passionately feel it is UNACCEPTABLE to leave clothing, camping equipment and rubbish behind after a UK festival. This act is irresponsible and not in-keeping with the ethos of a modern festival.
Over 20 tonnes of abandoned clothing, camping equipment (which is often reusable) and rubbish blight the beautiful green pastures of the UK annually and this figure is only set to rise. It really is a very sad state of affairs and something to be ashamed of.
It costs each festival organiser up to £780,000 to dispose of all the rubbish after the festival, money that won't go to charitable causes. Also a lot of this waste is needlessly pushed into landfill.
Something has GOT TO CHANGE. Our wonderful festival culture is becoming unsustainable.
We need UK festival organisers to take more responsibility to ensure their customers take a more sustainable approach. We also need the festival goers to make a commitment to clean up and actively look to help and support others to do this onsite post event. It is not a big ask.
Not only will this save the festival organiser money in regards to clean up and the festival goer money in terms of re buying kit but it could potentially support our homeless citizens and protect our ever decreasing green belt patches of land and wildlife. We need to hold people more personally responsible for their impact on our environment, communities and country to ensure a world worth living in for future generations.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read this petition. I very much hope you feel compelled to support and share this with your friends and family.
Together they will need to listen - TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
