The Glasgow 2014 commonwealth games are a fantastic opportunity to showcase all that is good about Scotland in advance of our potential move towards independance in September. The hideous uniforms that have been unveiled recently have been met with a deluge of negative comments, mockery and outright ridicule from all sides (especially from the Scottish people themselves).

These uniforms have the potential to turn a potentially unrivalled advertisement for Scottish sport and culture into a circus of laughing and finger-pointing, and it is impossible to see how they were not binned before it got this close to the games themselves. If the tartan itself cannot be changed at this late stage, at the very least replace the hideous patterned shirts and ugly socks.

When traditional Scottish dress looks so smart and striking, not to mention already being recognised around the world, it is ridiculous to send the team out with uniforms designed by someone who must be either be colour blind or have no sense of style.
