Due to the recent outbreak of the Delta variant strain in NSW, the Government has introduced tighter restrictions that prevent workers from leaving an LGA that is locked down, unless they are “authorised workers”.This also includes cleaners of residential Strata buildings that clean common areas, manage waste/recycling and disinfect high touch point areas to protect the health and Safety of residents. Cleaners still do not come under “authorised workers” and we need them now more than ever to reduce the spread of Covid by providing these essential services.
 Most cleaning contractors have lost 60 to 70 percent of their workforce. There is simply not enough cleaners who live outside those LGAs to continue to disinfect and service these buildings .  These services are not only front-line but critical in protecting the 1.4Million residents and 62,700 strata plans that are impacted by this skill shortage.We need your help in convincing government that cleaners are essential front line staff and have them deemed as “Authorised Workers”
