BLOCK CELL TOWER PLACEMENT AT PUKALANI GOLF CLUB
The Issue
ATTENTION PUKALANI RESIDENTS!!!! BLOCK THE CELL TOWER
Verizon wants to build a MICROWAVE TOWER in the parking lot of the PUKALALANI GOLF CLUB, northeast of the burned out shell of the old club restaurant. The interest of the Golf Club's owners in developing another income stream is understandable, but CLEARLY NOT IN OUR INTEREST. The proposed 68 FOOT TOWER is to be located WITHIN 400 YARDS OF MORE THAN 100 HOMES ON NEARBY PUKALANI STREETS, exposing both adults and children to what may be DANGEROUS EMF (ELECTRO MAGNETIC FREQUENCVY) RADIATION. While Verizon is the company commissioning the tower, other cell companies may be able to locate their antennas there as well increasing the emf waves beamed into the surrounding residential areas. A quick look at the website antennasearch.com shows that there are already 11 cell towers within a 4 mile radius of the proposed tower.
According to the 1996 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules which regulates the cellphone industry along with radio and TV, cellphone tower radiation is supposedly not a danger to the public. However, even the quickest internet search brings up dozens of studies and articles that report dangerous effects of cell tower radiation on human health, and particularly on the health of children, the elderly, and pets, citing increased incidence of cancer and leukemia. Squarely in the view plain of a number of Pukalani properties, the 68 foot high tower is supposed to be disguised as a pine tree. Even in the accompanying illustrations, the disguise looks strange and will inevitably be an eyesore. Many internet articles note that property values near cell towers fall sharply.
On Tuesday, November 17th at 6 PM, there will be a community meeting to discuss Verizon's cell tower proposal one of the downstairs rooms in back of Hannibal Tavares Community Center, across from the Pukalani Terrace Shopping Center. We urge all of our concerned Pukalani neighbors to attend this meeting to show their opposition to the proposed cell tower.
