A recent incident has put a family dog at risk of euthanasia after a bite on a private property. 

The individual involved consistently returned on 3 occasions with the request to breed Zeus with his dog, who is now currently in heat, to which he was constantly told “no” as Zeus is neutered. After being warned beforehand to not place his face over the fence to Zeus as it was unknowing how he would react, he chose to ignore the warning and continued to attempt to put his face close towards Zeus over the garden fence which therefore led Zeus to react to an invasion within his own safe space. 

After the attack, the individual hounded the owner for “money” or he was taking the situation to the police. Zeus was seized and removed from the home on the 13th of April. He is now away from family and the surrounding he is used to which will be causing him distress and fear, something no animal should have to experience.

Zeus is a well loved pet of the family who has grew up in a homely environment around young children and babies. He has never reacted  towards anyone before this incident. The dog has grew up in the presence of a young child of the family and is constantly handled and interacted with under family supervision. Zeus remains calm and relaxed around the child and never showing any signs of aggression. 

We believe it would be unfair to Zeus that he was euthanised after an incident were several warnings were given not to put his head over the fence as the individual was unknowing to the dog and therefore warnings were ignored resulting in Zeus’s reaction. 

There are clear signs on the fence of the property indicating that a dog is present at the home. This has been placed here to make sure everyone is aware of the dog and prevent any incidents. The family have also made efforts to follow all guidelines under  the Dangerous Dogs Act, in order to ensure the dog is properly secured. 

Please help us save Zeus before any irreversible decisions are made. We would be greatly appreciative of any support for Zeus. No dog should go through a situation like this based on one situation were Zeus was put in a situation, especially when clear warnings were given and ignored.
