The Struggles of Balancing Full-Time Work and Dementia Caregiving

Caring for a parent with dementia is a full-time job in itself, yet so many of us are also expected to maintain full-time, in-office work. The reality of balancing these responsibilities is overwhelming. We find ourselves piecing together a patchwork of care solutions, often at significant personal expense. Each day is a struggle to provide the best care for our loved ones while trying to meet the demands of our jobs.

The emotional and financial toll is immense. We worry about our parents' well-being when we're at work, and we're stretched thin by the costs of care. The lack of flexibility in workplace policies only adds to the burden, making it nearly impossible to manage both roles effectively.

This is why we need more support and understanding for caregivers. Whether it's through more flexible work arrangements, better access to affordable care options, or stronger workplace protections, something has to change. The current system is not sustainable, and it's time we start addressing the real challenges faced by caregivers.
