Give WARDOGS players in South Africa a home server
The Issue
WARDOGS is a 100-player tactical FPS from BULKHEAD, published by Team17. Since community server hosting opened through approved partners QONZER and BisectHosting, players in Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania and South America have all been able to rent a server close to home. South Africa is the one major region still missing.
Right now, South African players are stuck routing to European servers at roughly 150ms ping, or further afield at 240ms+ — a real disadvantage in a fast, team-based shooter, and often reason enough not to buy the game at all.
For context: a comparable ask for South African Valorant servers in 2020 led to Riot Games launching local servers in August 2023, via a partnership with local publisher Carry1st — about three years, door to door. We'd like WARDOGS to beat that timeline, not match it. This is also a smaller ask than Riot's was: no server rack to ship, no data centre to build. QONZER's own infrastructure page already lists Johannesburg as a "planned" location — we're just asking for that flag to be switched on.
We are not asking BULKHEAD to build or pay for anything. A group of South African players is ready to rent that server and administer it ourselves, at our own cost, the moment the region is switched on.
All we're asking: approve a hosting partner with a presence in South Africa — whether that's fast-tracking one already "in the pipeline," or greenlighting an existing approved host to flip on the region.
If you play WARDOGS from South Africa, or want to, add your name. The bigger this number gets, the harder it is to overlook — and the better this story reads when BULKHEAD says yes.
