The Issue

Christmas Eve is meant to be a time of celebration, rest, and connection with family and loved ones. However, for hundreds of thousands of Walmart associates across the country, it is often spent rushing to finish last-minute holiday rushes, dealing with heavy stress, and sacrificing precious holiday hours on the sales floor.

While Walmart currently closes its doors on Christmas Day—a policy that is deeply appreciated by employees and customers alike—extending this closure to Christmas Eve (starting at the end of regular business on December 23rd or closing entirely on Christmas Eve) would allow workers the necessary time to travel, prepare, and truly celebrate the holiday with their families.

Retail workers are the backbone of our communities, working tirelessly throughout the entire busy holiday season. Giving them Christmas Eve off is a meaningful step toward prioritizing employee well-being, mental health, and work-life balance.

Join us in asking Walmart leadership to close all stores on Christmas Eve so that every associate can share the magic of the holidays at home.
