We demand the NSW Government keep its election promise to create the Great Koala National Park in this election term, with no tricks and no offsets.

For over three years, the government has stalled the creation of this park, a park that is critical for protecting our endangered Koalas. Now the government has decided we can only have our park if we accept a new and dodgy carbon offset scheme called the INFM (Improved Native Forest Management) method. They are holding our wild koalas hostage to get carbon cash.

We, the people of Australia, do not accept this deal.

The INFM carbon offset scheme is a scam.

Respected conservation leaders and koala experts have exposed this carbon plan. They warn that its a greenwashing hoax with no real safeguards.

This scheme does not slow climate change.  Instead, it gives big fossil fuel companies permission to continue polluting and warming the planet.  You cannot save koalas by making the climate hotter.

Eucalyptus forests are the only home koalas can have. They provide food, shade and water for koalas, and protect them from predators.  Climate change is a huge threat to koalas. 

Allowing big polluters to emit more greenhouse gases causes hotter heatwaves, longer droughts, and larger and more frequent bushfires. 

The INFM method is a disaster for forests right across Australia.  Koalas in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, as well as New South Wales, and other wildlife in Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory will suffer from this, if it goes ahead.  

If this plan passes, state governments across Australia will stop creating national parks unless big polluters pay them first. Reports show companies are already trying to do this in Tasmania.  It will keep native forest logging alive instead of protecting nature.

Our Call to Action:  We call on the NSW Government and Australian Senators to stop this dirty deal.

NSW Premier Chris Minns must deliver on his promise and create the whole, pure and unencumbered Great Koala National Park right now.  Australian Greens and Crossbench Senators must vote to block the INFM carbon credit method in the Senate.
