We demand the Minns NSW Government keep its election promise to formally gazette the complete Great Koala National Park before the end of their first term in office.

For years, the government has delayed the creation of this park, which is vital for protecting our endangered koalas. Now that the federal government have passed the INFM carbon offset scheme, Premier Chris Minns has run out of excuses. 

We, the people of Australia, still maintain that using our wild koalas for carbon credits is a dangerous precedent. 

We know the boundaries of the Great Koala National Park have been constantly amended to the detriment of koalas, and will hold the government accountable to every single tree in the original Park footprint. 

The time for delay is over.

Eucalyptus forests are the only home koalas have, providing essential food, shade, water, and protection from predators. Climate change, habitat destruction, and land clearing continue to pose a massive threat to their survival. We cannot afford any more legislative stalling, compromise, or carved-out boundaries.

The NSW Labor Government promised a world-class reserve to save koalas from extinction in the wild. A moratorium on paper is not enough; wild koalas need the permanent, legal protection that only formal gazettal provides. 

Our Call to Action: NSW Premier Chris Minns must immediately introduce legislation and formally gazette the Great Koala National Park before the end of this term.
