Give us Dolly Parton Imagination Library license plates in Accomack County, Virginia!
The Issue
Growing up, books played an integral role in my life. They transported me to different worlds, inspired my imagination, and shaped who I am today. For countless children, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library provides this same gift, granting them access to free books from birth until they begin school. It's a project driven by love, community, and a belief in the potential of every child. Imagine having the chance to contribute to this poignant mission, simply by driving your car.
In Accomack County Virginia, we currently do not have the option to purchase a Dolly Parton Imagination Library Specialty license plate, but-->
"This statewide rollout was made possible by House Bill 1075, which established a statewide program for the Imagination Library of Virginia. The plate is part of a public–private partnership between the Commonwealth of Virginia, The Dollywood Foundation, the Virginia Department of Education, and local program partners. It provides a 50% match for books and mailing costs in all counties, ensuring that children from birth to age five in every county can receive a free book each month. While some counties may have local outreach groups or events, the specialty plate is designed to be available countywide, reflecting the program’s goal of equitable access to books across the state." So it IS possible, and 90 counties of the 95 in Virginia DO have it!
This specialty plate could not only mark our vehicles with the spirit of literacy and kindness that Dolly epitomizes but also provide crucial funding to keep the Imagination Library alive and thriving.
Dolly Parton is a national treasure, revered for her philanthropy, talent, and dedication to enhancing the lives of children. Her Imagination Library's impact is undeniable—having gifted over 170 million books worldwide, it fosters a culture of literacy and learning in communities. License plate sales could provide ongoing support, potentially funding thousands of books for young readers.
