Despite the countless hours, emotional strain, and dedication we've invested, our voices remain unheard when crucial decisions about our loved ones' care, support needs, and related meetings arise.
In the UK, there are approximately 6.5 million unpaid carers providing essential support to family members, friends, or partners with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or age-related needs. Despite the critical role we play, our input is often overlooked in formal meetings with healthcare professionals or housing authorities, which can lead to decisions that do not fully consider the day-to-day reality faced by those in our care.
The issue here is not just about seeking respect or validation; it's about advocating for the best interests of those we care for.
