The Issue

I have seen and heard the joy that the USAA National Military Monument brings to our heroes, particularly our Vietnam Veterans. These veterans returned from a harrowing conflict to a country that often met them with indifference or even hostility. Their sacrifice, bravery, and dedication are the foundation of our freedom today, yet their contributions have been undervalued for too long.

The USAA National Military Monument symbolizes gratitude, respect, and the undying spirit of those who have served. It celebrates not only the valor of those who fought in Vietnam but also recognizes the millions of Americans from every corner of the nation who answered the call to serve, whether during times of war or peace. These individuals defended our liberties, many enduring lifelong physical and emotional wounds, while others made the ultimate sacrifice.

Despite the monument's significance, it currently lacks a permanent home. Housing it permanently would do more than recognize our heroes; it would stand as a testament to the promises made between the people and the military, an acknowledgment that we understand the weight of their duty and the depth of our gratitude.

The Leadership of USAA has a unique opportunity to honor all veterans, especially those who served in conflicts like Vietnam, by finding a permanent location for this monument. Such an action would not only pay homage to their service but would also educate future generations on the cost of the freedoms they enjoy.

Creating a permanent home for the USAA National Military Monument is not just a tribute; it is a necessity. It’s time we take initiative to ensure our veterans' sacrifices are eternally honored. Please join me in urging the Leadership of USAA to establish a permanent home for this national treasure. Together, we can honor the promises made to those who have given us so much.

Sign the petition to give the USAA National Military Monument the home it deserves, and let our heroes know their service will never be forgotten.
