Give the Park back to Youth Park Community

Give the Park back to Youth Park Community
The Issue
Living next to Youth Park has always been a source of joy and pride for our community. For years, our community park has served as a vital part of our daily routines. Residents of all ages from Youth Park neighborhood enjoyed this community space to gather with our friends and family, improve our physical and mental health, and enjoy aspects of nature.
The gates on 66th Avenue North was the original access to the park. We were told of a large community improvement project coming to our park. We waited for almost two years for it to be reopened.
Today, the park had its grand opening and our pedestrian gate is locked and we have been told it will not be opened. Our community improvement project has cut out the original community.
Many families moved to our community because of the access to the park. Many kids no longer have walkable access to our park we live right next to.
The one and only access to the park is on the other side is a half mile walk from the original gate. That is only 10 minutes but it is along a very busy roads and is not pedestrian friendly.
We, the residents of Youth Park neighborhood, implore the local council and city park management to reassess the measures taken that have limited our access to this critical public resources.
We are simply asking for the existing gate to be unlocked to allow direct walking route to the park, every day and every hour it is open. We are asking Horizon Sports Park and the City of Pinellas Park to not alienate community members or limit access to public resources.
By ensuring we regain access to the park, the authorities will not only uphold the community's trust but also preserve the cherished history and essence of our neighborhood.
Please sign this petition to stand united as a community determined to restore access to our park and to emphasize our commitment to fostering a healthy, cohesive, and inclusive neighborhood.
