Asterix is one of the most famous Franco-Belgian comic book characters of all time, along with Tintin and The Smurfs. The adventures of Asterix and Obelix, along with the rest of the Gaulish village, battling the Romans with the aid of a magic potion have delighted millions around the world. There have been many animated Asterix movies, and even some live-action ones, too.

However, us American Asterix fans have got the short end of the stick. We have gotten all of the Asterix comics translated into English, but as for the films, it's a little more spotty. We have gotten many dubs of the Asterix films, but with varying degrees of quality. Not to mention the fact that most of the dubs were made in the UK and Canada. No subbed releases here either. So fans can't experience the films in their original language with English subtitles. Finally, the films are only available to rent, and not to stream.

My hope for this petition is that we get a proper Blu-Ray release of and streaming deal for most, if not all, of the Asterix films. These include:

1967 – Asterix the Gaul (Astérix le Gaulois)
1968 – Asterix and Cleopatra (Astérix et Cléopâtre)
1976 – The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (Les Douze travaux d'Astérix)
1985 – Asterix vs Caesar (Astérix et la surprise de César)
1986 – Asterix in Britain (Astérix chez les Bretons)
1989 – Asterix and the Big Fight (Astérix et le coup du menhir) (book of the film: Operation Getafix)
1994 – Asterix Conquers America (Astérix et les Indiens — produced in Germany as Asterix in Amerika)

1999 – Asterix & Obelix Take On Caesar (Astérix et Obélix contre César)

2002 – Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre)

2006 – Asterix and the Vikings (Astérix et les Vikings)

2008 – Asterix at the Olympic Games (Astérix aux Jeux Olympiques)

2012 – Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia (Astérix et Obélix: Au service de sa Majesté)
2014 – Asterix: The Mansion of the Gods (Asterix: Le Domaine des Dieux)
2018 – Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion (Astérix : Le Secret de la potion magique)

and the upcoming movie:  2022 – Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom‎ (Astérix et Obélix : L'Empire du Milieu)

Now who should release these on Blu-Ray? My number 1 choice is Shout! Factory. They release a lot of niche, cult stuff, and Asterix could fit right in with their other titles.

What I want from these releases is this:

French language option with English subtitles.

New English dubs with accurate translations by people who are passionate about the source material.

In-depth bonus features about the making of the movies, including commentaries, of course.

Streaming releases, preferably on either Tubi and/or Shout! Factory TV.

Please Shout! Factory. Give us the release that the small but strong Gaul rightfully deserves.
