Honest John and Gideon are two characters who appeared in both the animated and live action adaptations of Disney's Pinocchio. They are two of the villains in both movies. Honest John (who apparently was not very "honest" at all) is a smooth talking fox while his sidekick Gideon is a silent dimwitted cat. When they first encounter Pinocchio, they trick him by saying that since he was a real live puppet, he could be a star by working with Stromboli, a traveling entertainer who was a scoundrel just like them. Later on, in the animated version, John and Gideon, with the Coachman's help, get Pinocchio to go to Pleasure Island, a place where children can do wherever they want which ended up being a trap. In the live action version, it was only the Coachman who convinced Pinocchio. In both versions, they never explained what became of the two scoundrels after everything that happened! Honest John and Gideon are two of my favourite characters from Disney's Pinocchio! Having an unforgettable presence in both the original animated classic and the (2022) live action remake, they have captured the hearts of many, including mine. This pair, with their unique blend of humour and cunning, deserve much more recognition- their own movie to be exact! Or maybe their own TV series or Disney Twisted Tale novel perhaps! Imagine delving into a prequel revealing how this deceitful yet charming duo came to be, discovering their backstories, and what motivated their mischievous adventures. Alternatively, envision a sequel focusing on what became of them after their encounters with Pinocchio, exploring their journeys and new escapades. Such a movie could hold immense potential for character development, comedy, and thrilling narratives that would entertain audiences of all ages. Disney has a rich history of bringing beloved characters into the limelight and giving them new life. With the enduring popularity of Pinocchio and its universe, a story centred on Honest John and Gideon could reignite the magic and wonder associated with these characters, perhaps even inspire new generations.
