I am a 16-year-old who wants to take control of my own life. My mom works in different areas, and my dad is never around. When I ask him to do stuff for me, he threatens to take it away. It's time for me to have control over my own things so that I can do things for myself without worrying about them getting taken away or any other problems.

As a teenager, I am old enough to make decisions on my own and be responsible for them. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, by age 16, teenagers should have more independence and decision-making power in their lives.

I understand that parents want what's best for their children, but sometimes they can be overprotective or controlling. Giving me parental control over myself will allow me to learn from my mistakes and grow as an individual.

This petition is personal because it affects my life and ability to prepare for the future. By having control over myself now, I will be better equipped to handle adult responsibilities in the future.
