Winter time in South-Western Ontario brings cold weather, and less time outdoors for physical activities. In St. Thomas, there are no indoor skateparks for skateboarders, bikers, roller skaters, or scooter riders to stay active over the colder months. Many individuals who participate in action sports are left with little to no physical activity during this timeframe due to Daylight Savings. If there were lights at the St. Thomas skatepark that turned off at 11PM, the transition to winter would not be nearly as overwhelming for athletes who need to get outside to maintain their mental and physical well being.
