My best friend Jasmine passed away by suicide in 2018. Her adoptive mother, Jenni, made the decision to have Jasmine cremated and buried with her grandfather, a man she had never even met.

Her memory is overshadowed by a connection to Jenni, who is currently on trial for horrendous crimes including manslaughter, egregious abuse, and defrauding the NDIS, injustices that led to Jasmine’s final decision.

For those of us who knew and loved Jasmine, this situation is heartbreaking. We have no place to go to reflect on her life or share in the love we felt for her without being overshadowed by the painful reminders of Jenni’s acts. Her name barely appears on her grandfather’s headstone, offering us no appropriate memorial for the young woman who touched all of our lives.

We are calling on the community and all those who believe in honoring the memory of loved ones to help us raise the necessary resources for Jasmine's own headstone. A place dedicated solely to her, free of painful associations, where friends, family and those impacted by her life can mourn and remember her in peace.

Jasmine deserves a resting place that truly belongs to her. Please join us in this journey to give Jasmine the personal headstone she rightfully deserves.
