STOP THE VIOLENCE

The Issue

Listen to #HerVoice - Stop this Violence

Horrific and illegal punishments mean women in India are being tortured, raped and murdered with alarming frequency. This is shocking, but it is nothing new. Human rights atrocities like this happen every day. In India, a woman is raped every half an hour and I, Miranda Hudson, CEO of Snehalaya UK, giving rescue, rights an rehabilitation to women & children in India, cannot allow this to continue. Women in India need more support from the Indian government, so grassroots organisations like mine are not left to simply pick up the pieces.

If, like me, you can no longer watch the news in horror, please use your voice to help the voiceless and stand in solidarity with #HerVoice to put an end to the increasing stream of shockwaves emerging around gender based violence, by signing for change.

This petition asks for the Ministry of Women & Children and Ministry of Home Affairs in India to STOP Khap Courts, ensure protection laws are implemented across the system and actively work to tackle rape culture in India.

The Supreme Court in India has already outlawed Khap Courts and currently has some of the toughest anti-rape laws in the world, but there is little in place to enforce the law and organisations like mine can no longer be left to simply pick up the pieces.

The #HerVoice campaign aims to change this. By adding your name to our petition, and sharing it on social media, you are asking the Indian government to take stronger action to protect women in accordance with the laws.

This is not just India’s problem, this is a global issue, and we owe it to the women of India, as fellow human beings who have a right to live free from fear, to take a stand for them now.

Thank you
